Through an emphasis on community partnerships, HouseProud strengthens neighborhoods in Atlanta by providing senior and disabled homeowners with high-quality no-cost home repairs. HouseProud’s primary goal is to allow seniors to remain ‘warm, safe and dry’ in their current homes. Volunteers, contractors, community partners, and HouseProud staff perform countless repairs to make sure that seniors can stay in their homes. A complete list of repairs can be found here.
Low-income seniors are often referred to HouseProud through neighborhood associations, other programs, and neighbors. There is never a cost to the homeowner, and the HouseProud staff works diligently to make sure that the senior is satisfied with the quality of repairs. Each homeowner is anonymously surveyed upon project completion to ensure that the program is always providing the highest quality service.
Much of HouseProud’s success is attributed to partnerships established within the community. On any temperate Saturday, groups of HouseProud volunteers can be found re-decking porches, replacing locks, installing wheelchair ramps, painting, and providing many other support efforts for our senior neighbors. These volunteers provide the enthusiasm that keeps HouseProud moving forward. HouseProud also leverages partnerships with contractors, church groups, universities, corporate sponsors, and other organizations that are also committed to supporting our senior homeowners. Check out a few of our projects in the video narrarated by our Execeutive Director, Lisa Jones.
